Who We Are
Twenty years ago, two hungry young men sat down in a dimly lit bar. Change was in the air.
Between them Paul Gillings and Barry Doak had spent a long time in the security industry and firmly agreed on one thing; it needed something new. They shared a frustration of the number of vendors trying to sell what they liked, rather than what clients needed.
They knew they wanted to do something different, they just hadn’t figured out what that meant. So, over a bucket of sweaty beers they thrashed out what the hell it was they wanted Monatrix to be. What resulted are the promises they made to each other.
They agreed that if they wanted big clients to trust them, they had to learn all about them and what made them tick. They had to build relationships.
So they vowed to get to know every client better than their therapist, and give them service that normally comes with 3 Michelin stars.
They also promised themselves they’d know the products on the market better than anyone. So instead of trying to jam in the best product for them, they could stitch together the best system for their client, regardless of the vendor.
To do all of this they needed top flight talent. So they pledged to invite only people they’d trust with their own security to join them, and they promised to build a culture which allowed their team to grow to be what they aspired to be.
Everyone is proud of what Paul and Barry created in that bar. They created a manifesto to live up to, but more importantly, they created Monatrix.
In 20 years they’ve grown a team and a reputation, and have the great honour of serving some of the biggest brands in the country.
But most important, they still live by those promises from the dimly lit bar.

There is a difference in doing things right and doing the right thing. We love our business. We don’t just act on instruction. We think, question and research. We learn and evolve our thoughts to ensure that every aspect of supporting our customers feels right and exceeds their expectations.

We treat our customers as more than just a number or a contract. Our customers and partners are long standing and we enjoy mutual loyalty. When a customer calls our office, we know them by name. We are always there for them. Day or night, weekends and weekdays, their calls and needs are always answered!

As a naturally self-starting entrepreneur and leader of where Monatrix goes, Paul is driven by a passion for doing the right thing and being the best at what he does, including flying helicopters!
BARRY
Co-Founder and Sales Director
Barry is our driven and focussed client leader, pushing as hard as he can to deliver excellence for our clients and building deep, long-lasting relationships, often over a round of golf!
KARL
Operations Manager
From Service-Co-ordinator, to Security Engineer and now Operations Manager, Karl has done it all. Since 2014 Karl has been dedicated to learning the In’s and Out’s of the Security Industry. Even when at home Karl likes to keep himself busy with several hobbies, including Golf, Cycling and Scuba Diving!
Gary
Business Development Manager
Gary lives on the coast and enjoys long walks, bike riding, the sea and all that goes with that! He is a keen golfer and loves all sports!
Michaela
Customer Relationship Executive
Michaela is our Customer Relationship Executive. She’s a dedicated professional who is passionate about ensuring that our clients are always up to date on the latest electronic security. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing and gardening.
Richard
System Designer
Systems Designer Rich has over two decades experience in the security industry. When he’s not cheering on his favourite rugby team, he’s spending time with his family!

Internal Project Manager
From Field Engineer to Internal Project Manager, Jake has a wealth of knowledge in security. In his free time Jake is training to be a Rugby coach for his sons team.
Meg
Operations Supervisor
Meg prides herself on providing excellent cutomer service. Meg enjoys walking her resuce dog, Ella, and watercolour painting in her spare time.

Marketing Coordinator
Kristal is our Marketing Coordinator. She has a broad understanding of marketing with a diverse background in business. In her free time, Kristal loves exploring and painting…sea scapes being her favourite!
